You can create defects from test reports in ACCELQ. This allows you to establish defect traceability with test Scenarios.
While you initiate/create the defect from ACCELQ test report, the lifecycle of the defect is managed in external systems that you configure. Support for Jira, Azure, and Rally is currently available out-of-the-box for defect integration. You can find instructions for setting up these integrations in the following link ACCELQ Integration setup.
Initiate defect Creation
You can create a defect from the Test Result.
You may either click on the `bug` icon in the header of a specific (failed) Test Case or click on the `Defect` link on header section of result page as shown below. You may either create a new defect or associate the result with an existing defect in Jira/Azure/Rally.
Associating with an existing Defect
ACCELQ supports linking a test result (and the corresponding Scenario) to existing issues in your Jira/Azure/Rally. You can search for a issue by using issue ID or Title/Summary. Once configured, click on `Associate` button to link the selected issue with a test case in ACCELQ.
Create new defect from ACCELQ
ACCELQ also supports the creation of a new bug directly on your integration platform (Jira/Azure/Rally). Select the option to create a new defect.
Most of the information to create a bug will be pre-populated including the summary, description etc.
While adding a defect, you are only presented with the mandatory fields configured on your defect tracking system. If required, you may also add other fields by clicking on the "Other Fields" button as displayed in the image below.
You may also attach screenshots from the test result to insert as part of the newly created defect. You can select up to 10 images when creating a defect.
If needed, you can also select other issues on the defect tracking system and link to the newly created defect.
Note: Input format of some specially formatted fields may not be identified in ACCELQ. In those cases, ACCELQ provides links to platform-specific instructions as part of the field help. An example can be found below
Review all the information and click “Create”. This will generate a bug in the configured Jira/Azure/Rally project and provide a confirmation with the ID of the bug created.
Listing of associated bugs in the Test report
You can review the list of associated bugs in a test report, either by clicking on the bug icon in a specific test case or the Defect link at the top of the report header. You may refresh the list to pull the latest updates from the defect tracking platform.
Traceability Note
When associating or creating a defect, you may manage a traceability note as part of the linked issue. This information is maintained on the ACCELQ as a reference to this relationship and not carried over to the defect tracking system.
