Test case is a collection of input data required to run a Scenario. A given Scenario may need to be executed with multiple combinations of data inputs, making way for multiple test cases. Every Scenario may have one or more test cases defined for it.
In accelQ, a Scenario is comprised of a sequence of Actions. Each of these Actions may require some input parameters. When a Scenario is run, it is necessary to provide values for all the inputs from all the Actions in that Scenario.
One set of such data values is a test case in accelQ. Each Scenario may have one or more test cases associated. When you run the Scenario, it is executed repeatedly with all the test cases defined for it.
Some times, none of the constituent Actions of a Scenario may have any input parameters. In that case, there is only one implicit test case (no data) and Scenario will only execute one time. You do not have data driven capability.
It may also be possible that all the parameters required for the Scenario may have been overriden to be supplied through other static sources such as Global Parameters, Run-Parameters or hard-coded literals. In this case also, there is only one implicit Test Case. You do not have data driven possibility.
If a test case is applicable for a Scenario, it can be created by following means:
- Create a test case manually through test case modal.
- Import test cases from an excel sheet
- Auto generate test cases through accelQ's in-built algorithm for optimal combination of various parameters.
